I have some printed PETG parts on the extruder of my Mk2.5 bear. Its in an enclosure for ABS . A printed PLA box is not very safe. There are two main things you want from a plastic box containing mains electronics: If the mains circuit has a fault, and starts a small fire, the case should contain that fire until it burns out, or a fuse goes. PLA is flammable, so not only will it not contain the fire, it will feed it.It looks like lost enclosures are DIY, I guess they don’t manufacture them (yet). A lot of flexibles do okay. Certain high-strength polymers have additives to print without an enclosure. Polymide CoPA is a special formulation of nylon that crystalizes in a way to prevent warping, and solid additives like carbon fiber or fiberglass have the same effect (though you will need a hardened nozzle for those).Hi, little advice wanted. I'm in process of designing a system for building a vivarium, using 3d printed parts and acrylic or glass sheets. Would PETG be safe to use for parts that may come into contact with the reptiles? So far it's just connecting parts and frames but may 3d print a background for the enclosure too. Thanks all.Printing with PETG is fine without an enclosure.
